The Scoober - The Underutilized Disc Golf Throw!
By sillsil2 | April 2, 2008
In my opinion one of the most underutilized throws is the Scoober. If you're asking, What's a scoober then maybe you should add this throw to your repertoire.
The scoober is essentially a mini version of the hammer throw. However, the disc usually begins upside down and not thus lands flat.
How to throw
Place two fingers inside the disc similar to a flick (sidearm) throw. Now take your arm and extended it towards your left shoulder. Similar to as if you were reaching over to scratch your left shoulder. The throw is performed by snapping your elbow and wrist while releasing the disc.
It'll take some practice to get any sort of distance or accuracy on your scoober. However, once you have the hang of it can be useful.
When do I use it?
It is especially useful for those throws where you're behind a tree and a basket is directly behind the tree. It is also useful in situations where you'd simply like the disc to land at the basket without going past. However, if you knew your putting distance then you could possibly 'go for it'
This throw is typically used on an ultimate field so here is a youtube video of the scoober.
